BAJAJ

There are many public transports in Indonesia which is divided into three groups land, water, and air transport. The largest and most preferable for Indonesian is the land transport. Bajaj is one of many old fashion public land transport which we can only find in Jakarta , the Capitol of Indonesia.
Bajaj looks like a giant red egg with three small wheels under its body. Two of the wheels are under its belly and one is in front, forming a triangle position if you see it from above. Its single front wheel has the ability to turn up to 160 degrees which help The Bajaj to move in such limited space. Two small doors are placed on the left side that allow passenger and driver to get in, although it is hard for big people to enter and not to stuck. Its twin front lamp gives sufficient light to illuminate shady streets of Jakarta and deliver the passenger to their destination.
Bajaj is famous among the people that are looking for cheap and easy transport to travel trough the busy streets of Jakarta . It will take its place as the alternative classic transport in the cyber era

My Impressive Primary School

My primary school is located at Garut West Jawa. It is Islamic school named SDN Ciparay 1. It is quite a small school, covering with two football fields. It has two gates, both of them are used only for pedestrian entry or exit because they are too small in size for vehicle. In addition, it has a five main building that houses all elementary classrooms.

Like other Islamic schools, it has a mosque servicing the local Muslim community. They always prayed together and came along with us. We learned more about praying not only from class lesson but also from people around us.

During our primary school days, we took up basic subjects in English, mathematics, religion, and proper manner. My favorite teacher was Mr Endang whom I presume must have already retired by now. Moreover, we had organized sports in football. We frequently won the championship at that time.

In short, I long to my primary school situation. It is very impressive especially in performing not only my basic religion but also my social interaction. Hopefully, my experience will bring me to bright future life.

Kuta Bali
Kuta is one of the most famous places which has a big influence for development of tourism sector in Bali . Kuta is located in the south of Bali . It is around twenty kilometers from Ngurah Rai International Airport . If you look at the map of Bali , you will find Kuta on the bottom right corner of the map. The local government of Bali has already built many facilities there in order to support tourism programs, such as wave barricade, bungee jumping tower, the path for beach side walk, public places, etc, you will see many building spread out along the street. The things that can make the tourist interested in Kuta are a white sand beach, tropical climate which is enabling the sun shines along the year, smoothly wave for surfing and sunset in the evening.
In the morning until daytime, we will find remarkable workloads in Kuta. Traffic jam is happened in approximately every sides of the road to the beach. Many people from various areas, either from other islands in Indonesia or overseas, come there with many purposes, such as walking around to take the air, looking for entertainment, having lunch, go shopping or simply window shopping. Assorted kinds of cafe, bar, restaurant, mall, boutique, art shop and other public places, are ready to wait for arrival of the tourist and give their best services as good as they can. If we change our sight to the beach, we will see many tourists from overseas with their swimsuit are sunning along the beach while another play a canoe or surfing. The situation changes in the evening. Many tourists are sitting around the cafĂ©’s balcony in the coastal periphery to see the sunset. Far away from there, the sun is embedded slowly. It seems like it will sink into the ocean while shining reddish yellow light. That is truly wonderful.
In summary, we can say that Kuta has a big influence for development of tourism sectors in Bali . By developing Kuta as the main tourism direction, other interesting places in Bali will be directly advertised as a tourism sector as well. The highest achievement on tourism development means the highest income to increase government budget. Hopefully, that income can be used by the government to support their programs in a way to reach the prosperity for people in Bali .

INDONESIAN AGRICULTURE

Indonesia is one of Asian countries whose income is mostly got from agricultural sector. Almost all of Indonesian citizen’s livelihood is a farmer, because they are inherited a land to be cultivated by their parents. Moreover, the climate in Indonesia is very appropriate for cultivating activity. As we know, Indonesia has ever reached a self-support of rice in early 90’s. Hopefully, in the future we can reach a self-support of food. Therefore, the government has issued many programs to be conducted in order to fulfill the food subsidy for all of Indonesian. Besides, all of Indonesian have to support the government’s program in order to meet the requirement of self-support of food. In short, Indonesia has a potency to be one of the countries that reached self-support of food, nevertheless, it will never happen if the Indonesian citizen never support the government’s program.

The Mean of Transportation in Indonesia

Developing infrastructure of Transportation is one of the major
considerations of Indonesian Government in supporting economic growth
in Indonesia as well as the mean form of transportation itself. As the
reason of distribution material for industry and manufacture products,
The government has been building thousands of kilometers of road along
the nation and making great progress in maintaining economic growth
rate in general by the interval of 5-6%. However, the problem to come
appears from creating the mean of transportation as a suitable form of
transportation system applicable and flexible in all of the provinces.
This problem appears likely some twisting threads or even worse that
the government couldn't pick out the best priority fit to the next
policy in developing transportation sector.

Problem in land transportation, for example, remains unsolved that
there is no significant changing in the public transport. In the
capital city the condition is getting worse. The accident rate
increases gradually as the effect of overcrowded number of vehicle and
inadequate public transport available. For a safer choice, people usually use train as an
alternative form of cheap transport regardless its uncomfortable
services.

Meanwhile, The mean of transportation for inter-island distribution
purpose and the form of air transport is still under provision of the
national committee for transportation safety due to some accidents and
incidents occurred recently. To complete the project of creating a suitable
transportation system, the Government, together with some transportation
expert groups, is running an observation and providing supervision for a new
transportation regulation as national guideline in managing these problems and also
inviting everyone, especially wise-minded citizens, to give suggestion and recommendation to make it
perfect.

The Beautiful Sanur Beach
at the Dayspring

A few years ago, when I was in elementary school, I used to go, annually, to Bali on my vacation because my family live in Denpasar. Bali is a very highlight of Indonesia due to its beauty. In Bali we can see the ancient tradition of Hinduism culture such as Pura, sesajen, ritual ceremony, etc. Of no less important, we can gratify our mind by visiting a lot of beautiful beaches. One of the beautiful beaches in Bali is Sanur beach. Sanur beach offers the beauty of its white sand, a brown coral,a barrier reef, and most notably, a small boat to rent, called "Kano". While resting under the sun and taking delight in zephyr blow, we can also refresh our eyes by seeing the calm blue sea.
Talking about Sanur beach, when the morning comes near, the people who have ever been there, surely is reminded about the beautiful dayspring at a dawn till morning. The dayspring rise obviously and give its warm for the human being. Finally, due to its beauty, dayspring moment becomes a symbol of Sanur beach.

BOGOR CITY

I grew up in Bogor, a quite small city which is located at 50 km southern of Jakarta. It lies over the highland for about 600 m of sea level. Bogor is known as The Rain city. People call it as The Rain City because its frequent rainfalls over all season. No matter what the season is, rain falls almost every afternoon. Bogor is a calm and comfortable place to stay. The criminal rate is pretty low, in addition, it is safely for those who walk everywhere and anytime, without being fear of criminal’s threat. The weather is cool, because of many old big trees surround the city.

The other things that made Bogor very famous is the botanical garden, which is placed exactly at the center of the city. Those whole old big trees were cultivated by the Dutch more than hundreds years ago. According to the history of Bogor, the city was purposed as a place where the Dutch could enjoyed themselves in their holiday. As a matter of fact, there are many things that made by the Dutch. Such as The Presidential palace and the botanical garden. Either The Presidential palace or botanical garden are placed in the center of town, and both of them are the landmark of city.

Commonly, people who live there are Sundanese which also use their traditional language in daily conversation. Even though I am not a Sundanese, but I used to speak Sundanese in daily conversation when I went out of my house. I should speak Sundanese, because I was part of Sundanese community and people there feel honored if someone spoke to them by using Sundanese language. Their culture and language, somewhat quite make me become a half of Sundanese, but it doesn’t matter for who I am belonging to?

In short, I love being a half of the Sundanessee, even though I was not born there, but that is the place where I grew up.

THE ROLE OF TNI IN THE UNITED NATION (UN) PEACEKEEPING MISSION
by : Capt Budi Alamsyah

The United Nation has role and responsibility to facilitate “peace” between countries or parties that have previously been in conflict by involving neutral countries included our beloved country, Indonesia. As a neutral country, The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) started their role in The UN Peacekeeping Mission in 1957 in Egypt; moreover, this contribution still keeps running until now. The implementation of the Role of TNI in every UN Peacekeeping Mission is divided into two parts; they are firstly as contingent and secondly as the UN Military Observer (Milobs).
The first implementation of the Role of TNI in the UN Peacekeeping Mission is as Indonesian contingent such as Indonesian Infantry Mechanized Battalion ( IndoBatt ) and Indonesian Engineering Company ( Indo Eng Coy ). The Contingent main role is to carry out all necessary duties which is given by The UN Headquarter (UN-HQ) such as to conduct some patrol in peace zone, to provide the escort for minor contingents, to keep conflict parties part from conflicts, to take care of the refugees as well as to rebuild the facilities.
The second implementation of the Role of TNI in the UN Peacekeeping Mission is as the UN Military Observer (UN-Milobs). The UN Military Observer is a military person who works in the UN Team site in every UN Peacekeeping Mission; furthermore, he carries out several tasks such as monitoring conflicts within his responsibility area, looking for some important information as well as sending daily and weekly report to the Senior Milobs or the Chief of Team site. Even though the Milobs gets higher salary than contingent’s personnel; however, he has to face bigger risk, because he never bring weapon while taking part in whole mission.
In conclusion, TNI has been contributing a significant role in The UN Peacekeeping Mission since 1959. As long as now, The Role of TNI has been divided into two parts, they are as contingent and as The UN Military Observer. Fortunately, all Indonesian Contingents have carried out a good performance in every UN Peacekeeping Mission; therefore, it has enhanced International appreciation to our country and nation, Indonesia as a glory country.

THE EFFECT OF INCREASING FUEL PRICE

Indonesian government announced the increase of fuel price in June 2008. It will influence many sectors such as transportation, production and employment. People convince that it causes a rise of commodity price because it will be a chain of reaction.

Transportation is the first sectors which get the effect of increasing fuel price. The cost of transportation will increase due to the forwarding company have to maintain vehicles and pay amount of fuel more expensive than before. It will be their difficulties if they don’t raise the payment of transportation. Therefore, they insist on the government to decide the new standard of payment. As a consequence, the rise of transportation price will influence the cost of product distribution and raw material’s transportation.

Most importantly, the factories use fuel as the main source of energy. Therefore the cost of production and the price of raw materials become very expensive so the factories don’t have ability to pay for. Certainly they can’t continue their production and the factories will be bankrupt because they can’t take the advantages from their production. The costs of productions are more expensive than the advantages. At last they will discharge almost their employees to reduce the cost of production and decrease disadvantages.

The next effect is unemployment. Because of the increasing of fuel price, the forwarding company which can’t stand operating all their vehicles will stop some vehicles. It means that they discharge some of their employees, while many factories released their employees to decrease disadvantages; as a result, many people have no job. It can be a serious problem if the Government does not think about it.

Eventually, Transportation, production and employment are the main sectors that influenced by the increase of fuel price. It will be a big problem if the Government does not pay attention for it. They have to anticipate and take their best solution to handle the worst effect of increasing fuel price.
